You know something’s ‘on trend’ when you start seeing a bunch of celebrities doing it.
What am I talking about? Paddleboarding. I can’t seem to switch on my computer these days without seeing an impossibly beautiful Hollywood type nonchalantly paddling away.
Given this, I was all set to give it the skeptical side-eye but I had the opportunity to try it last weekend and fell in love.
Unfortunately this was bad news for my skin. A few hours happily zooming around the water in a bikini left me a disturbing shade of pink. It got even more disturbing a few days later when the peeling started. I’ve basically spent the last few days shedding my skin like a snake. It’s gross and alarming.
In a bid to combat the terrible skin dandruff, I turned to my kitchen cupboards and came up with this lovely exfoliating scrub.
The caffeine in coffee is well known as a restorative for skin and helps stimulate the growth of new skin cells as I slough off the old. The coconut oil leaves the new skin nourished and moisturised while anti-bacterial tea tree oil makes sure the exposed, tender skin stays free of infection.
Keep in the fridge and use as needed but be careful – the coffee grounds can plug up drains.
Coffee Body Scrub (makes about 1/3 cup)
- 2 tbsps coffee grounds (used are fine)
- 2 tbsps coconut oil
- 5-10 drops tea tree oil
- Mix all the above together. Chill until needed.
